I think it was Geo who once told a story of walking into a restaurant, being told a 90 minute wait, then pulling up the same place on OpenTable and having a booking in less than five minutes. I have an OpenTable account that I use for exactly two restaurants: La Fondue and Black Angus.

That's funny. But we're no longer in the Bay Area nor are we likely to go down to Boston for supper. Plenty of good restaurants in NH. There's even a Brazillian BBQ place in Manchester.

i've stood in lines at stores and noticed they gave preferential service to the phone orders...

they had a giant sign with the phone number

so, my newly minted phone, back in the day, i called. the people in front and back of me thought it was HYSTERICAL.

i then moved up to the "pickup area" in about 30 seconds :D
