"When you read an article like this, and you go down the list, and you find yourself mentally counting off, “Yup, does that, does that, does that, does that…”

…There might be a problem.

And I’m going to note here that there is a virtual item number zero on this list, which is “keeping score” in the first place. You don’t have to have both partners doing it for it to be toxic. If EITHER partner is keeping score, that is toxic."

Having thought about the person's comment overnight.... there is a DIFFERENCE between keeping score and "We said that I would get a job and you would take care of the kids but you are playing video games instead of caring for the kids." I'm not trying to rationalize how keeping score is healthy but pointing out that keeping score is DIFFERENT from keeping people accountable for following through on mutual decisions and/or unilateral decisions. "Hey, I'm going to lift weights every morning while I wait for my coffee to be made." "God, would you stop bugging me about the weights on the counter that are dusty because I haven't been lifting them!"

I was reading _Strange History_ and one of the vignettes was on how to spot a Communist. It got me to wondering, did the USSR ever publish that sort of nonsense with titles like "How to Spot an American" or "How to Spot a Capitalist"?  If so, could y'all point me at a copy?

treehaus: Yes
treehaus: He was with our parents in Tucson
treehaus: They left a restaurant and he was in front with Dad a short distance behind. He told dad to watch the step and got in the car. By the time Dad caught up and got in the car, Rain was gone

"When you're accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression." And when you're accustomed to 98% of the stories in your history class being about men, then any stories about women are going to feel like "they're invading our space."

It's the last paragraph really...

"To whatever evil child out there is wishing this on millions of people just to get a few snow days, please stop wearing your pajamas inside-out. Thank you."

We're lucky in that we have an AWD vehicle that handles this mess well and a new snowblower as well as places to put the snow. The parking lots in town aren't as lucky so it is getting more and more difficult to get about.

LED Firework Finale

Balance toy but doesn't say what weight it is rated up to.

iPad "brush" but I'm unsure if it makes the iPad in to a drawing tablet or not.

Timer app for Android that lets you set a timer for up to 4 stove burners and the oven.

OpenTable sounds like a good idea for finding nearby restaurants but I'm not sure I need to make reservations often enough. Might be more useful than Yelp.

Tolkien t-shirt.

Grow your own herbs. We tried something like this but I'm the only one who actually cares for the plants.

Drink Water sounds like a good idea...

Highcroft barn, country barn, and Morton barn because enclosed parking is a Goodness.

It started with this quote being levied at me. which led to not responsible for what people think but what you give them to think about and What you give power to and why people do things and consequences and on your mind leaves it in your heart and okay to be contradicting yourself and product of your thoughts and thinking for and thinking of and finding your own answers and how to remember to forgive.

All of these quotes about how one has to be willing to change because otherwise ... but the other side of this coin is Malcom X's stand for something and Miranda Lambert on respect and Caroline Kennedy on the difficulty of standing still in a crowd.

"You have to change with the times!" is often code for "I changed and I demand that you change too! You're keeping me down! My friends are laughing at me because you are so old-fashioned!" Change for me so I can feel better about having changed is the subtext.

Why can't you be secure in who you are that you don't change with the wind and your underwear? Or if that is the way you always were why did you ever behave differently and speak differently? "It's a trap, suh! There's two of them (in the same body)!"

La, la, la, la I'm not listening to me.

It is not my right to change your worldview.
It is not my responsbility to point out your logical fallacy.
You are happy as you are.
It is not my right to change that.

I will use my fingers to shut my lips.
It is not my right to change your held beliefs.

"I'm sorry. They lied."
"What?"
"They said that it mattered and it doesn't. It's NEVER mattered."
"You mean I've spent YEARS worrying and watching my actions and it NEVER mattered?"
"Not to me. I'm sorry, babe. Come here and we'll have a cuddle."

She sat down next to me on the couch and I put my arm around her. Her body slowly unstiffened and her head rested on my shoulder.

"It never mattered?"
"Never."

Carry On

"To Make Up for the Times I've Been Cheated On" Sometimes you come to understand that will never ever happen. And you let it go and let go of the feelings that made the cheaters matter. I'm not even sure the cheating matters or if it is the feeling of "how could I be so stupid as to let this person matter enough to me that their actions could affect me?"

It's rather sad to say something and sit back just to realize what you are waiting for is what has become the obligatory refutation of what you've said from certain sources.

That no matter what you are talking about those people are going to argue against your point. You'll say the sky is a beautiful blue and they'll say sure BUT it's got a red tone to it that is overwhelming that blue. It it will be no where near sunrise nor sunset.
